Over the last 15 years, I’ve received a number of awards for writing, design, and photography.

2008: Canadian Community Newspaper Association: First place, Best Special Section, for a magazine reflecting on the 150-year history of the Enterprise-Bulletin.

2006: Ontario Economic Development Awards: First place,  publications – Brochure/Specialty Publication, for an eight-page tab section for the Wasaga Beach economic development office.

  • 1999 – Ontario Community Newspaper Association (OCNA): Best Business & Finance Story, third place (feature story on the then-nascent Barrie-Collingwood Railway).
  • 2001 – OCNA: Best Business & Finance Story, third place (article on the collapse of a local timeshare/vacation share business)
  • 2001 – Canadian Community Newspaper Association (CCNA), Best News Story, second place (coverage of the Temple Building fire).
  • 2002 – OCNA: Best Business & Finance Story, second place
  • 2002 – OCNA: Best Sports & Recreation Story, second place

(Both above awards were for a feature story on the burgeoning golf course industry in the south Georgian Bay region)

  • 2002 – CCNA: Best Feature Series, second place (articles on homelessness in the Collingwood area)
  • 2003 – CCNA: Best Business & Finance Story, third place (article on the golf course industry)
  • 2004 – OCNA: Best Editorial, second place (editorial supporting the re-election of a local Member of Parliament)
  • 2006 – CCNA: Best Feature Photo, third place
  • 2007 – OCNA: Heritage Writing, second place (60-page magazine celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Enterprise-Bulletin newspaper)
  • 2013 – ONCA: Rural Reporting, third place (article on the role neonicotinoids play in the role of bee deaths and hive failure)
  • 2016 – OCNA: Best Rural Story, third place (article on the 50,000 Good Food Box)
  • 2016 – OCNA: Reporter of the Year, third place.
  • 2017 – OCNA: Environmental Reporting (article on microplastics in the Great Lakes)
